OUR IMPACT
Since 2010, Uncle Dave has given thousands of men a second chance in life, just as Uncle Dave was given in 2005 when he was released from prison. Our founders (Uncle Dave and his wife, Felicia Edelman) continue to provide quality housing at newly constructed duplexes in South Los Angeles. Over 30,000 men have lived at Uncle Dave's Housing, which is not just a place to live but a home that gives them a family atmosphere and a supportive community. Our focus is on providing quality housing allowing each participant to feel a part of and that they belong to our family. This boosts their self-esteem and dignity allowing more opportunities for a better life and reintegrate into the community.
Our nonprofit organization has housed over 30,000 men since opening its doors in 2010. Over 60% leave our homes with a plan for the future. We are firmly rooted in the belief that housing must come first. With your support, someone in need can find housing stability and the services they need at our homes to start a new life. What Is Housing First?
We believe Housing First is essential before supportive services. In order to have a chance at a 2nd life a strong foundation can't be built until stable housing is obtained. We seek to provide housing and services to persons who are returning home whether from the justice system, treatment centers, the streets, hospitals or referred from one of our many stakeholder partnerships within the community. Housing is a human right and everyone deserves an equitable opportunity and access to resources to help build a new life.
